RIM GUARD® LIQUID TIRE BALLAST
When you are lifting heavy bucket loads, hauling round bales, clearing land, or grading steep acreage, counterweight is essential for operator safety and machine stability. At Leitz Farm & Equipment, we provide certified, in-shop Rim Guard® liquid tire ballasting—the industry-standard weighting solution known across agriculture and heavy construction as genuine “Beet Juice.”
We ballast loose tires, wheels, and complete drop-off equipment across all machinery types: compact and sub-compact tractors, full-size ag tractors, skid steers, track loaders, telehandlers, backhoes, and commercial zero-turn mowers.

RIM GUARD® VS. THE COMPETITION
Don’t settle for lightweight alternative fluids that cost you more out of pocket while delivering less pulling power and less stability:
| Feature / Metric | Leitz Farm & Equipment (Genuine Rim Guard®) |
Competitor Blends (Standard Ballast Mixes) |
|---|---|---|
| Fluid Density | 10.7 – 11.0 lbs / gal (Maximum Weight) | ~9.5 lbs / gal (Under-weighted fluid) |
| Price Per Gallon | $6.99 / gal ($6.75 on new machines) | $8.00+ / gal ($1.00+ more per gallon) |
| Weight Advantage | +1.2 to 1.5 lbs more weight per gallon | Missing 120–150 lbs of ballast per 100 gallons |
| Corrosion Protection | 100% Non-Corrosive (Safe for bare steel & brass valves) | High internal wheel rust risk (Calcium Chloride) |
| Sub-Zero Freeze Rating | Freeze-proof down to -35°F | Variable / slush-prone mixtures |
| Land & Livestock Safety | 100% Non-Toxic & Biodegradable | Toxic to pasture, livestock, and pets (Antifreeze) |
WHY RUN BEET JUICE BALLAST ON COMMERCIAL & AG FLEETS?
Telehandlers & Skid Steers
Counterbalances heavy bucket loads, pallet forks, and boom extensions to eliminate forward-tipping hazards.
Commercial Zero-Turns
Lowers your machine’s center of gravity directly at the drive-tire contact patch, holding tricky slope lines without tearing turf.
Large Ag & Utility Tractors
Maximizes drawbar pull, eliminates power hopping, and cuts wheel slip to reduce fuel consumption and tread wear.
Bearing & Axle Protection
Unlike frame-mounted suitcase weights or heavy cast iron wheel centers, liquid ballast distributes weight directly inside the tire footprint against the ground, eliminating leverage strain on your axle bearings and drivetrain.
We service tires for all makes, including Bad Boy, LS Tractor, Kubota, John Deere, Case IH, New Holland, Bobcat, CAT, Gravely, Mahindra, and more.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (OLYMPIC PENINSULA)
How much weight will Rim Guard® add to my tractor?
Because Rim Guard weighs approximately 10.7 to 11.0 lbs per gallon, a standard compact tractor with 15-19.5 rear tires will gain roughly 550 to 600 lbs of total stability (about 25–28 gallons per tire when filled to the 75% valve-stem level). Full-size ag tires can add 1,500 lbs to over 3,000 lbs across both tires.
Does Rim Guard® rust rims or ruin valve stems?
No. Unlike old-fashioned calcium chloride, Rim Guard is completely non-corrosive. It protects bare steel rims from the inside out and will not seize brass or steel valve stems.
Can I drop off just my wheels, or do I need to bring the whole machine?
You can do either. Many customers remove their rear wheels and bring them in on a pickup bed or utility trailer for fast turnaround. You can also trailer your tractor, skid steer, or mower straight to our Sequim shop.
Is Rim Guard safe for livestock and pasture land?
Yes. Rim Guard is made from a water-soluble sugar beet byproduct. In the event of an accidental tire puncture in the field, it will not poison cattle, horses, pets, or soil microbes.
